"This has been a great opportunity for me to learn about social work in America, specifically case management with children and families. I've developed new skills; my mind has become more open and aware of cultural differences. I've learned so much."

2007 Program participant from Germany
International Learning Exchange (ILEX) was created specifically for professionals working within the social services and human services fields. Our mission is to provide supported, on-the-job training experiences for international professionals seeking to broaden professional skills, develop global competencies and participate in cross-cultural exchange.
Typically, training programs are 12 to 18 months. International Learning Exchange carefully considers the goals of each program participant, and matches them with an on-the-job training experience in the United States that supports those goals. International Learning Exchange provides housing for our participants, health insurance, and a monthly stipend. In addition, an International Learning Exchange Field Coordinator is assigned as a means to support accomplishment of goals and to facilitate a rewarding learning experience.
In partnership with Council of International Programs U.S.A. (an exchange sponsor for over 50 years), International Learning Exchange arranges and supports training programs in the United States for social workers (case managers, family support workers, clinicians, direct support workers), psychologists, nurses, special education teachers and other human services and social services professionals. There are no application or program fees paid to International Learning Exchange at any time for program participants.
